Spring 2025

Monday

Science: Make it or Break it! (K-2nd): How were skyscrapers, teslas, and tiny homes made? ENGINEERS!! What is an engineer you ask? Well, forget the dictionary definition. Engineers are dreamers, planners, problem solvers, and tinkerers. 

Over the course of our time together, your child will take on projects and hands-on challenges, in hopes of finding success. Every theme will begin with making a plan, then move on to the building & trials phase, and finally end with a final test. From egg drops and Rube Goldberg machines to earthquake simulators and tower challenges, there will be much to get excited about.

 

Dynamic Drum (K-5th): Students will participate in a music group. Students will learn about the instrument as well as how to play in a music group.   

FREE Rental instrument and curriculum included!  Instruments and music are intended for in class AND at home practice.  Rental Instrument must be returned at the last class.

 

Art: Portraits & Character Design (K-2nd): Unleash your creativity in Portraits & Character Design! Dive into the exciting world of comic books and graphic novels in this dynamic after-school class. Students will craft unique characters, design eye-catching cover art, and develop their own comics while building an understanding of key storytelling techniques and artistic vocabulary.

 

Intro to French w/ Ms. Thaler (2nd-5th): This is a beginner introduction class to the French language. Students will learn the basics of French including the alphabet, colors, important words, phrases and pronunciation. Students will also learn about French culture, food and art! Each student will also receive a vocabulary packet to practice at home if they wish. 


Tuesday

Intro to Pickleball w/ Ms. V (3rd-4th): Introduction to Pickleball.  Learn the basics of the game through skill practice, drills, and modified games!

 

LEGO® SPIKE™ Essential Robotics: Quirky Creations (K-3rd): In this robotics program, children become game designers, creating their own carnival-style robotics games using Scratch coding and LEGO® SPIKE™ robotic kits. From battling the automated hockey goalkeeper with their partner,  to programming a personalized pinball machine, each class is a new venture into the art of fun and games. As the teams build and code, they strengthen their understanding of sequences, cause and effect, and problem-solving, all while preparing their creations for the ultimate carnival showdown.

 

My First Lemonade Stand (K-2nd): Let’s sell lemonade! Join us for this fun class, where you will learn how to make yummy lemonade and how to earn money selling it! These fun sessions will empower students with an entrepreneurial mindset for their lemonade stand. Students will learn about marketing, finance and strategy in a supporting environment fostering teamwork. From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, students have fun while developing business savvy. As a showcase event, students launch their lemonade stand in the spring and donate profits to a charity they select!

 

Engineer Race Cars (2nd-5th): Hit the racetrack with RoboThink! In this thrilling camp, students will not only build and race a variety of different race cars, they’ll also be learning about different parts of a car like the transmission, pistons and differentials! No prior experience necessary, just make sure to wear your racing gloves!

 

Yoga w/ Jill Holland (K-3rd): This playful and fun class incorporates creative movement, yoga postures, games, and mindfulness practices in a safe and noncompetitive environment.  Your child will learn tools to increase self-awareness, improve focus, stimulate creativity, and stretch and strengthen their bodies.  With almost 20 years of experience teaching yoga to children of all ages, Jill looks forward to sharing these valuable mind/body techniques with your child.


 

Wednesday

Chess (K-5th): Learn chess with Silver Knights Chess Academy (formerly Magnus Chess Academy), world champion Magnus Carlsen’s academy!  We’ve taught 100,000 children to play including state and national champions, but most students are beginners looking to learn a new skill and have FUN. Class time is divided between lessons and practice games.  Lessons range from the basic rules to advanced tournament strategies.

Students will have the opportunity to play in tournaments (in-person and online) outside of club time.  This in-person club includes free online extras including weekly practice tournaments and an event with world champion Magnus Carlsen or Judit Polgar, the best female chess player of all time.  All chess supplies provided. Soccer Club w/ Ms. McCawley (3rd-5th): Soccer itself will teach kids skills such as teamwork, perseverance, and decision-making, and all of those will apply to all aspects of children’s lives. The club will help improve students not only in knowing how to play the game but will keep them active and healthy. Students will do drills practicing speed and footwork. Scrimmages are small, unofficial, fun games meant to help players practice and learn from their mistakes for when they have a game. Players out on the field sweat and learn to work hard to reach their goals!

 

ASL 1 w/ Ms. Jones (3rd-5th): Join our ASL 1 club to kickstart your journey in American Sign Language! We'll focus on mastering finger spelling and numbers, providing a solid foundation for communication. Whether you're a complete beginner or looking to refine your skills, this is a welcoming space to learn and practice! Let's build our ASL skills together!

 

Karate (K-5th): ​​Zen Budo Karate teaches the Japanese art of self defense in an after school class format. Students learn punching and kicking skills, target and pad practice, self control and discipline and how to follow instructions alongside leadership skills. Students can advance in belt rank, learn memorized patterns, escapes from grabs, and the basics of martial arts.

Uniforms are required and included in the class price. If you already own a uniform, please use the coupon code UNIFORM30 to deduct the price of the uniform cost. Uniform fees are non-refundable should your student withdraw from their class.

 

Cooking: Savory & Sweet (K-5th): Just like the name suggests! Each day will feature a sweet treat that will go perfectly with dinner or one savory dish that is sure to become a family favorite! We'll work on learning new baking skills like creaming, whisking, and melting. And cooking skills such as stewing, stir-frying, and sautéing. 

 

Creative Writing Club w/ Ms. Pennypacker (3rd-5th): Join our Creative Writing Club, where imagination meets the writing process! In this dynamic environment, young authors will embark on a journey from brainstorming to publishing their own stories. Each participant will enjoy access to a premium subscription that brings their creative visions to life, helping them craft engaging narratives. Additionally, we’ll focus on developing proper keyboarding skills, ensuring that every writer can express their ideas with confidence and flair. Unleash your creativity and take your writing to the next level!

 

Website Design (2nd-5th): Introduce your child to the fascinating world of website design! Utilizing an intuitive website builder, our young learners will discover the fundamentals of website design, responsive layouts, and multimedia integration. Our instructors will provide a supportive and hands-on learning environment, encouraging students to develop their creativity and digital skills.

By the end of the course, each child will have designed their very own website, showcasing their unique interests and talents. Let’s embark on a creative journey that will spark your child’s imagination and foster a lifelong interest in technology and design.

 

Engineering w/ Little Bits (K-2nd):In this class, younger students are introduced to basic electronics including input/output through hand-on learning and projects. Students combine everyday supplies and color-coded modules to create different projects such as custom flashlights, touch sensors, alarm clocks, and more!

Thursday

Intermediate Pickleball Doubles w/ Ms. V (4th-5th (Thurs)): Participants will learn strategies, scoring and teamwork as they play doubles.   Please note, this is not a beginner class.  We will focus on game play, not basic skills.   Players should have intermediate skill in racket sports (forehand, backhand, volley) so they can be successful during game play. Contact Ms. Verderosa if you have questions regarding your child's ability.  Paddles are provided, however students are welcome to bring their own.

 

BES Cross Country w/ Ms. McCloskey & Mrs. Weber (3rd-5th): Cross country club will be a running club with a mix of long runs and interval running. Club members will practice drills and build their stamina in running. We will also create a positive atmosphere with team building activities and team chants. We hope you join!

Pottery: Contemporary Art! (K-5th): Join us this Spring as we explore the exciting world of Contemporary Art! Learn about how these famous artists changed the world of art by coloring outside the lines. In this class you’ll create pinch pots, coil pots and slab hand built pottery from start to finish. You’ll even get a chance to glaze your own pottery. Our materials are professional grade stoneware and get fired in our kiln making the pieces both beautiful and functional! Ready to explore? Come on and let’s get muddy! 

 

Spanish (K-3rd): Your child will learn a foreign language, the culture, and traditions of the particular countries where that language is spoken. Instructors use every moment as an opportunity to motivate students to use and practice their speaking skills. Games, songs, and other age-appropriate activities are used by our native-speaking instructors to keep the class fun and interactive.

 

Debate Club (3rd-5th): Students will select debate topics they find appealing, and learn the art of persuasion. Students will work in rotating groups and practice their debating skills in a supportive environment, including developing arguments, issuing rebuttals, providing examples, rebuilding their case and summarizing points of view. Students will learn to think on their feet and enhance their public speaking skills, gaining self-confidence in the process.

Note: This club is structured as 3 independent and different modules to be offered year-round (preferred) or individually in the fall, winter or spring.


Friday

Gemstone "Diamond" Art Extended Session 2 w/ Ms. Thaler (2nd-5th): Students have loved the gemstone club so much they have asked for another Spring session! This class is available for new beginner students or advanced students who have taken the Winter class. Gemstone art involves working with tiny rhinestones, small tools and wax to make larger gemstone mosaic style artworks. Gemstone art improves fine motor skills, coordination and patience. This class is available for students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th grades.
